Aeromart Toulouse - Vaccines and Venturing into 2021
Amelia Earhart, the first female to fly over the Atlantic solo said; “Preparation, I have often said, is rightly two-thirds of any venture.”
In addition to maintaining manufacturing over the last eight months, this time has also allowed the management team at IPC Mouldings to revisit our growth plan and our vision for 2020 – 2025 and prepare a clear strategy to emerge stronger.
Having right sized the business to remain sustainable through the downturn, IPC Mouldings conducted an overview of the business, which was focused on continuous improvement, efficiencies, people, embracing change as well as digital communications – key decisions have been at the heart of this process to allow the company to transition to the new normal.
Anticipating our customers’ needs and aligning the company in order that we are ready and able to support our customers has been key. With the agility to change, adapt and communicate, IPC has put in place a number of measures which will see the company ride the storm created by the pandemic in the aviation sector and the ever closer impact of Brexit.
Although the aircraft backlog remains relatively unscathed and overall, there will be a long-term future for the industry, research shows a slow recovery with return to 2019 levels not forecast until 2025.
Without preparation we would not be able to rise to this fierce challenge and be able to work within the aerospace sector as it restarts to rebuild and grow.
We’ve certainly not been sitting idly by. 2020 also saw us secure SC21 Gold Performance Level for operational excellence with ADS – the aerospace, defence, security and space industry body in the UK – for the second year running.
Our team is committed to producing work of the highest standard and specification, maintaining excellence in delivery and quality through a balanced scorecard with five years results maintained at 99.5% and above, is no mean feat. Thank you team! Sponsored by our customer, Collins Aerospace, the award will continue to strengthen the company’s relationship as well as adding to the strength of the Northern Ireland aerospace sector.
With a digital Aeromart Toulouse taking place early next month, we are once again looking forward to a time where we can engage, albeit it differently, in an event where there is great potential to show our wares, and discuss and analyse the industry and its next steps.
At IPC Mouldings, we have confidence that the sector will come back and come back strong. The recent announcements of two vaccines which are 95% effective gives us all a beam of hope and even better is the news that Boeing’s 737 Max plane has been cleared by US safety regulators to fly again.
Confidence in this sector is and will be key.
As we move forward in 2021, we must show leadership, use integrity, collaborate, continually improve and act on stewardship. For IPC Mouldings to be a successful, profitable and diverse business competing on a global platform and sustainable for the next generation of engineers, we must do everything within our power as we continue on this great venture.
After all, Amelia Earhart said… “The most effective way to do it, is to do it!”
